RESEARCH PROJECTS
The CRA undertakes two types of projects:
(1) General projects for the benefit of all churches, as determined by the Board of the CRA.
(2) Specific projects, contracted by the CRA, to meet the needs of particular church denominations or agencies. The outline of some samples of projects are presented below.

ANGLICAN CLERGY IN AUSTRALIA

The CRA undertook a survey of Anglican clergy in Australia (all women and a sample of about one third of men). The survey explored experiences of processes and conditions of appointment. In particular, it examined whether the experiences of female and male clergy were significantly different. The study has been published by the General Synod of the Anglican Church in a book entitled Working in the Anglican Church: Experiences of Female and Male Clergy

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION IN THE UNITING CHURCH

The CRA undertook a major study of Christian Education in the Uniting Church. The first part of this study involved focus groups at around 30 churches in most states of Australia. It was followed by a survey of more than 4800 Uniting Church attenders in approximately 240 congregations.

CATHOLIC CHURCH INSURANCES

Between August 2001 and February 2002, the CRA conducted a survey of clients of the Catholic Church Insurances in conjunction with Reemarketing Ltd.. The survey covered general and specific areas of customer satisfaction. The material contributed to the understanding of the factors which affect the acceptance of church organisations in contemporary society.

PASTORAL LIFE OF WESLEY MISSION, SYDNEY

The CRA conducted a major review of the pastoral life of Wesley Mission, Sydney. The review involved interviews with many of the lay and employed leaders and discussions with elders in the various congregations associated with the Mission. A report was published for Wesley Mission which suggested a range of ways in which the pastoral life might be developed.
