| Many individuals in our contemporary society feel excluded or marginalised. In a 2002 survey, one in twelve Australia adults did not feel they had someone they could depend on in their time of need. Some of these people seek support through counselling.
Written by educator, researcher and counsellor, Vivienne Mountain, this new title presents the results of research into twelve different church-based counselling services with close links to the congregations of people from whom the initiatives arose. It has not investigated the large denominational services, such as Anglicare or Centacare.
The stories of formation and the ongoing experiences of staff provide a positive illustration of what churches can do to live out gospel values through interaction with their local communities.
