| The Anglican General Synod has recognised the need to develop a church that is 'mission-shaped', reaching out to a diversity of contemporary Australian society. The Synod has also recognised the need for a diversity of types of churches.
This study provides an overview of Anglican rural churches in Australia drawing on the National Church Life Survey 2006. It also focusses on some of the quite different models of leadership and organisation operating in a number of dioceses.
The case studies have sought to capture the stories of individual churches and to examine at depth the particular factors operating in each situation.
This is the second in a series of studies looking at rural church life in Australia by CRA.
